Olena Teliha is one of those unjustly forgotten and little-known poets whom we should speak about today. Her life and work are an example of the indomitable struggle for the right to be Ukrainian. Forced emigration, cultural activism, life under German occupation, and faith that precisely now—when the world is engulfed in war—it is more important than ever to understand what we are fighting for.

Her powerful poetic voice remains as our legacy, as does her ability to remain a woman even in the midst of struggle. Delicate, beautiful, feminine, and vulnerable, she carried on her shoulders the destiny of resistance and the fight for freedom.
