Festival for international drama

PINK PAVILION is an annual reading festival at Blaagaard Teater. The festival presents international and Danish drama staged and performed by professional artists from the Danish theatre scene.

This year PINK PAVILION will also be performed in Aarhus at Theatre Katapult Friday 12.05.23

PINK PAVILION is a festival for both audience, actors, directors and playwrights. Everyone meets up to explore new plays, voices and stories in a common global world. The festival wants to contribute to the internationalisation of Danish theatre by presenting new international texts and by facilitating meetings between the invited international playwrights and their Danish colleagues.

This year’s theme: POWER

This year we are presenting a wide range of plays that revolves around the theme of POWER in a variety of ways; institutional power, relational power, oppressive power and the power and powerlessness we can feel in everyday life.

In the work of Dora Yuemin Cheng (CH/GE) we meet the modern consequences of power in a post-colonial society, in the work of Arni Rajamäki (FI) we meet a resistance to the (hetero) normative power in the theatre, in the work of Catherine Benhamou (FR) we explore power and powerlessness through employees working in a large company and in the work of Lin Melkane (DK/LE) we are confronted with the kind of power the brain and the system can take over the human body.

We hope this line-up will surprise you, provoke you, inspire you and maybe make you question what you already know.

The Festival starts at Theatre Katapult at 6pm in BlackBox and ends with a party and DJ at midnight.

The readings will be performed in Danish with English subtitles.
